New Student Enrollment 2012-2013 - All Students
|
||
2012-2013 New Student Enrollment, including kindergarten students, will begin on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. The new student registration will be on a first come – first served basis. Completed registration packets will be date/time stamped and will be kept in order of submittal. The district encourages parents to register early in the enrollment process. No guarantee of attendance in the student’s neighborhood school exists. Placement of the student is subject to capacity at each school.
Schools will have an established number of K-5 students each can accommodate based on capacity. If a school reaches capacity in any grade level, the ‘unhoused’ students will be accommodated at the District’s overflow school. The overflow school will be selected in May 2012, as the District receives a better picture of enrollment trends.
Under the newly-enacted Kindergarten Readiness Act, students must reach the age of 5 on or before November 1, 2012 to be admitted to Kindergarten in the 2012-2013 school year.
Transitional Kindergarten Parents of students who reach the age of 5 between November 2, 2012 and December 2, 2012, can enroll their children in the District’s Transitional Kindergarten program. The Transitional Kindergarten program will be housed at Washington and/or Lincoln depending on enrollment and capacity. Transitional Kindergarten information and enrollment forms will be available at your home school.
Spanish Immersion at McKinley Elementary School Information on the District’s Spanish Immersion program at McKinley will be available at your home school. If you are planning to begin the District’s Spanish Immersion program, please visit the District’s website at www.bsd.k12.ca.us.
If you have any questions with the above procedure, please contact your school principal or the District Office, 259-3800.
We look forward to an exciting and fulfilling 2012-2013 school year! |
